Welcome to WLA History...

More accurately, this is MY personal history with the Western Lacrosse Association which began when I saw my first game in June of 1985.  This project began while reminiscing about all the great teams and players I've enjoyed watching throughout the years.

On the left of this screen you will find WLA standings grouped by decade.  Since I started watching lacrosse in 1985, I have seen the league grow from four teams to five, to six and finally to seven teams.  There have been no franchise changes since 2005.

1986 - Richmond Outlaws join the WLA.
1990 - Richmond becomes the Burnaby Lakers.
1994 - Vancouver Burrards move to Surrey.
1994 - Victoria Payless change name to Shamrocks.
1994 - North Shore Indians join the WLA.
1996 - Surrey Burrards move to Maple Ridge.
2000 - North Shore Indians become Okanagan Thunder.
2002 - Okanagan Thunder move to North Shore.
2004 - North Shore Thunder move to Langley.
2005 - Nanaimo Timbermen join the WLA.
